Our Hiring Process

Stage 1

Application Review

Once we receive your application someone on the team will review all information you shared with us. We do our best to let you know whether or not we're moving forward within 2 weeks, but depending on the number of applications we receive this may take a bit longer.
Stage 2

Initial interview with the People team

This initial interview takes between 30 and 45 min and can be via video or audio only.
You'll have a conversation with a member of our People team where you'll learn more about Spare, ask any questions you might have, and talk about your previous experiences, skills and why Spare matches your career goals.
Stage 3

Online code assessment

In this stage, you'll solve an online code assessment on your own. This should take anywhere from 1h and 1h30min and you and your interviewer will agree on a deadline to submit your solution. As soon as you complete it, we'll review your solution and let you know whether or not we're proceeding with your application to the next step.
Stage 4

Technical interview with the Engineering team

This technical interview may take 45 - 60 min and will be via video.
During this step, you will be requested to solve a technical problem while guiding your interviewer through your solution using an online platform. You'll be able to use any programming language you'd like.
You'll have the opportunity to meet a member of our Engineering team and ask them any questions you'd like, to learn even more about Spare.
Stage 5

Advanced technical interview with the Engineering team

This technical interview should also take 45 min and will be via video.
This is a more advanced technical interview, related to skills that are required for this team.
You'll also have the opportunity to meet another member of our Engineering team and ask them any questions you'd like, to learn even more about Spare.
Stage 6

Final behavioural interview

This is a behavioural interview and should take 60min. In this step you will talk about your career goals, how you connect to Spare, what you value in a team's culture and more.
You'll have the chance to ask more strategic questions, and hear more about Spare and the Engineering team from the manager you'll be reporting to.
Stage 7

Background check and references

As part of the selection process at Spare, we ask all prospective hires to complete criminal background and reference checks through a third-party provider.
